Knight’s Choice and Mission Of Love, two highly regarded members of the stable, returned to the trials on Thursday, 26 March to commence their respective campaigns.
Contesting the early heats on slightly rain-affected ground, both runners produced pleasing performances that provided the team with a valuable gauge of their early fitness levels. Ridden by Johnny Allen, he was satisfied with their efforts, noting that both horses—better suited over longer distances than the 1000 metres—worked through the line strongly when asked in the closing stages.
Both horses have come through the trials in good order and will take significant benefit from the outing, both physically and mentally, as they build towards race fitness. The team was particularly pleased with their composure and willingness to stretch out late, suggesting they have returned in excellent condition.
A further trial is likely for each as their preparations progress, allowing the stable to continue building their workloads in a measured manner before selecting suitable first-up targets. With natural improvement to come and their best distances still ahead of them, there is plenty to look forward to as their campaigns unfold.
It was also fantastic to see a strong group of owners on course to support them, adding to what was a positive and rewarding morning for all involved.
