It was a memorable day at Caulfield yesterday as Il Patrigno produced an outstanding performance to salute in style, giving jockey Dylan Dunn his first metropolitan winner since returning to race-riding.
Dunn, who has put in countless hard hours behind the scenes to work his way back to the metropolitan stage, delivered a confident and composed ride aboard the improving galloper. The win marked a deserved reward for his persistence, dedication and professionalism, with many in the industry knowing just how much work has gone into the journey back.
Il Patrigno has continued to thrive throughout this preparation for trainers John Symons and Sheila Laxon, who were thrilled to see the gelding put it all together on the big stage at Caulfield. The stable believes the horse has come on in leaps and bounds this campaign, crediting much of his improvement to the “Macedon Magic” at Macedon Lodge in Mount Macedon, Victoria — the premier training facility where the team’s horses are able to flourish in a peaceful and natural environment.
The victory was another wonderful result for the Symons & Laxon team, whose patient approach and attention to detail continue to produce results both on and off the track.
A special thank you must also go to the hardworking stable staff behind the scenes. From the early mornings to the tireless care and dedication shown every day, wins like these are a true team effort and a reflection of the passion shared throughout the entire stable.
Congratulations to all connections on a fantastic metropolitan success with Il Patrigno.
